How online fax pricing works
Online fax plans look simple on a pricing page, but the monthly price is only part of the picture. What you actually pay depends on how many pages you send and receive, where you fax to, and how many people and numbers you need. This onlinefaxservices.ca guide breaks pricing into its parts, using FaxToFax.com as the worked example, so you can estimate a realistic monthly cost before you sign up. Confirm the currency shown at checkout before you compare against other providers.

Most online fax services charge a monthly fee that includes a set number of pages, then charge for anything beyond it. Here is how the plans and add-ons compare. Overage matters for seasonal businesses: a bookkeeper who faxes heavily in March and April may go over for two months and stay well under for the rest of the year, so compare the overage cost against moving up a plan.
- Personal: $4.99 for the first month, then $18.99 a month. 200 pages a month, 1 user, 1 fax number. Extra pages $0.10 each.
- Business: $14.99 for the first month, then $39.99 a month. 500 pages a month, 5 users, a shared inbox and a Business Associate Agreement. Extra pages $0.07 each; extra users $10 a month each.
- Enterprise: custom pricing for larger organisations.
- Extra fax numbers: $5 for the first month, then $10 a month, on any plan.
- Annual billing saves about 17% compared with paying monthly.
What counts as a page
The allowance covers pages sent and received combined. A 3-page fax you send uses 3 pages; a 5-page fax you receive uses 5. A cover page is a page like any other, so include it in your estimate. If you send the same document to several recipients, plan on each copy using pages.
Failed faxes use no pages. If a line is busy or a number is wrong, you are not charged for the attempt. The most common budgeting mistakes are:
- Comparing only the first-month price. Budget on the regular monthly price that follows.
- Forgetting received pages. Incoming faxes use the same allowance as outgoing ones.
- Leaving out cover pages. On a one-page fax, the cover page doubles the page count.
International pages
Faxes to Canada, the United States and the United Kingdom use 1 plan page per page. Faxes to countries where calls cost more use more plan pages per page, up to 55 for the most expensive destinations, such as China. Received pages always count once, wherever they come from. If you fax overseas often, check the rate for those countries before you budget. For example, a 4-page fax to a supplier in Manchester uses 4 plan pages, while the same 4 pages sent to a factory in Shenzhen could use far more, so a few large international jobs can use up a month's allowance quickly.
Estimating your monthly cost
If the numbers are close, start on the smaller plan and review after two or three months of real use. The onlinefaxservices.ca team suggests checking your page count at the end of each month during that trial period.
- Count the pages you sent and received last month, including cover pages. A fax machine's activity report or your phone bill can help.
- Add extra plan pages for any international faxes outside Canada, the U.S. and the U.K.
- Compare the total with the 200-page and 500-page allowances.
- Add the cost of any extra users or numbers.
- Work out the overage on the smaller plan and compare it with the price of the larger one.
How Online Fax Pricing Works: questions
Is there a free plan or free trial?
There is no free plan. The first month is discounted: $4.99 on Personal and $14.99 on Business, after which the regular monthly price applies.
Do unused pages roll over?
Plans are described as a monthly page allowance. Do not count on rollover; size your plan to a typical month and treat busy months as overage.
Can I cancel if my needs change?
Yes. You can cancel online at any time. Payments are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise.
Does receiving a fax from overseas cost extra?
No. Received pages count once each, regardless of the country they come from. The country multiplier applies only to pages you send.
